The Añaza Carrefour Carrefour Shopping Center bets on Urban Art to Stand Out in Tenerife
In its effort to differentiate itself and become a point of reference on the island of Tenerife, the Añaza Carrefour Shopping Center has opted for urban art as the main driver of its strategy. This initiative, aligned with the guidelines of Grupo Número Uno, seeks to support, promote and highlight local talent, with the participation of two Canarian artists in the creation of an impressive mural in the main square of the center.
The mural, which has been conceived with the intention of attracting lovers of photography and the trend of "selfies" in emblematic places, presents the silhouette of a sperm whale, an emblematic species of the region, accompanied by a calf. This composition not only adds dynamism, but also reinforces the central message of the mall: "Growing as a family", a slogan that seeks to connect emotionally with its visitors.
Within the silhouette of the sperm whale, various shapes and textures unfold to create a vibrant visual rhythm. The use of contrasting colors, including the corporate tones of the center, ensures a powerful visual impact. Marine elements such as a fish, an octopus tentacle, a starfish and the face of a young girl with scaly textures are distinguished in the artwork, evoking the fantasy of a mermaid and adding a unique and original touch.
The mural also incorporates typographies characteristic of the collage and cut-out style, distinctive of the association of Canarian artists "EL TRATO". Among the texts highlighted is "CHOS", a Canarian onomatopoeia that expresses surprise and admiration, seeking to resonate with the local public and generate a feeling of pride and belonging. Likewise, the term "AÑA" makes a subtle reference to the Añaza area, reinforcing the connection with the community.
To complete the work, the background of the mural has been worked with seaweed shapes and colors that evoke coral and the seabed, providing depth and a sense of immersion. The use of shadows reinforces the perception of layers and closeness, bringing even more dimension to this artistic piece that promises to become an icon of the mall.
